CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur-A communist NPA terrorist (CNT) was killed in a successful engagement initiated yet again by government troops around 8:20 in the morning at Lagonoy town in Camarines Sur province, Saturday, August 15.

At least 15 members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) were encountered by the joint elements of 83rd Infantry Battalion (83IB) and the PNP conducting security operations in response to a report of some residents in Barangay Olas about the presence of communist terrorists in the area.

Fierce gunfight resulted in the killing of one CTG member while the troops seized two M16 rifles, one M653 rifle, one AK47 and propaganda materials from the fleeing CNTs.

Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB) under MGEN HENRY A ROBINSON JR PA stressed that the operation foiled the attempt of the CTG to carry out their terroristic acts in the fourth district of the province.

"Our top priority is to safeguard the civilians and their communities by preventing the CTG from hampering the peace efforts of the government. Our string of accomplishments is a proof of how sincere your Army in Bicol to attain genuine peace and sustainable development. To all the Bicolanos, we are in this together. Tulong-tulong tayong tapusin ang armadong tunggalian," MGen Robinson stressed.

It can be recalled that last week of July, a CNT member was also killed and one M60 machine gun, M16 rifle, anti-personnel mine, cellphone, assorted ammunitions, roll of electric wire, propaganda materials and other personal belongings were seized in an armed clash in Sorsogon.

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur-Troops from the Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB) continue to initiate successful combat engagements as part of its intensified military operations against the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Bicol region.

Around 8:10 in the morning, August 5, elements of 83rd Infantry Battalion (83IB) encountered at least 15 Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) in Tinambac town in Camarines Sur.

Residents from Barangay San Antonio heeded the call of the military to immediately report the presence of CTG members in their area prompting the troops to conduct security operations.

Firefight lasted for about 10 minutes before the enemies withdrew. No one was harmed on the government's side while still undetermined on the enemies' side.

Captured in the encounter site were anti-personnel mine, M2O3 40mm grenade, 200-meter electrical wire, ammunitions, personal belongings and propaganda materials of the CNTs.

JTFB under MGEN HENRY A ROBINSON JR PA thanked the residents for the prompt report.

Just this week, alias Sandy and Ramir of Bato; alias Cris, Jay-r and Roselyn of Sipocot, all regular members of CTG voluntarily surrendered to the PNP and the Army.

MGen Robinson attributed this development to the combined extensive military operations, intensified campaigns in encouraging the CTG members to return to the folds of the law and the cooperation of the local populace to the anti-insurgency campaigns of the government.

“Our decisive military operations will not stop until we finally clear all conflict-affected areas from the influence of the CTG. The recent recoveries and scores of the Army and our counterpart from the PNP speak about our persistent thrust to eradicate the lingering presence of communist insurgency in our region. Kasabay nito ay ang panawagan natin sa mga myembro ng CTG na huwag ng patuloy na magpalinlang sa teroristang grupong ito. Walang patutunguhan ang inyong ipinaglalaban. Mas mainam kung magbalik-loob na kayo sa gobyerno at mamuhay ng tahimik kasama ang inyong pamilya,” MGen Robinson added.

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur-The global crisis caused by COVID-19 might have put almost everything into a sudden halt but not the full implementation of halfway house projects in Bicol region.

With the on-going construction of halfway houses in Camarines Norte and Sorsogon, the government is more than ready to accommodate the growing number of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members who are returning to the folds of the law.

In Camarines Norte, the construction of the said facility inside Camp Busig-on, Tulay na Lupa, Labo town which started in October 2019 is already 90 percent.

The same facility will be constructed in Barangay Cogon, Juban town in Sorsogon province.

Halfway houses serve as temporary shelters for former rebels (FRs) as they undergo the process of reintegration to the mainstream society.

Right now, halfway house in Camp Bonny Serrano, Masbate province is already operational, which also serves as venue for livelihood and skills trainings provided for former rebels.

Alias Raymart, a former rebel who temporarily resides in the said facility along with 17 other FRs and their families, narrated how his life changed when he abandoned the CTG.

According to him, the fear of being killed by soldiers while hiding in the mountains and the loneliness of being away from their families are enough reasons to make the life inside the armed movement unbearable.

"Naisip ko na malayo na ako sa panganib dahil sa maganda at maayos ang pakikitungo sa amin ng mga sangay ng ating gobyerno. Napagtanto kong may mas mapayapa at magaan palang pamumuhay na naghihintay sa akin na ganito napapa-improve pa ang kaalaman dahil sa mga binigay na mga training tungkol sa hanapbuhay na pinagpawisan namin tulad ng sa TESDA," a grateful Raymart said.

Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB) under MGEN HENRY A ROBINSON JR PA highlighted that these developments are attributed to the earnestness of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) which aims to fast track the delivery of efficient services to the public.

“Ang gobyerno ay hindi tulad ng CTG na mapanlinlang. Itong mga proyektong ito ay patunay lamang kung gaano tayo kaseryoso na tulungan ang mga dating myembro ng CTG na makapagbagong buhay. We know that some of them are hesitant to surrender because they fear for their lives. Halfway houses are also built to ensure their safety,” MGen Robinson said.

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur-A 45-minute gunfight broke-out between the government troops and the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Barangay Daganas, Bulan town in Sorsogon province around 5:28 in the afternoon, July 30.

At least 40 communist NPA terrorists (CNTs) from Komiteng Probinsya 3 of Bicol Regional Party Committee (BRPC) under Arnel Estiller AKA Mando were encountered by the joint elements of 22nd Infantry Battalion (22IB) and 31st Infantry Battalion (31IB) while conducting security operations after receiving a tip-off from the residents about the presence of CTG in the area.

Killed during the firefight was a female Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) who was left behind by her comrades alone until she died after the government troops overran their hideout.

Captured from the fleeing NPA terrorists at the encounter site were M60 machine gun, M16 rifle, anti-personnel mine, cellphone, assorted ammunitions, roll of electric wire, propaganda materials and other personal belongings.

Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB) under MGEN HENRY A ROBINSON JR PA directed the troops to continue the extensive and intensified military operations in the area and hunt down the fleeing terrorists.

Furthermore, MGen. Robinson extended his gratitude and commendation to the people who gave the information about the presence of the CNTs.

"The encounter was another success on our part — the military and the Bicolano people. Your continuous support even by way of simple sharing of information about the presence of the terrorists, contributes a lot in our fight against insurgency. Our fight against this terrorist group will soon be over, as the enemy armed elements are now on continuous declining strength," MGen. Robinson enunciated.

The JTFB will continue to extend its hand for those CTG members who will choose to reunite with their families and loved ones peacefully; however, it will persistently hunt and crash those CNTs who are insisting to sow terrorism in the region.

Robinson further said.

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur-Another armed clash ensued between the government troops and the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Barangay Matagbac, Milagros, Masbate at 6 o’clock in the morning, Thursday, July 9.

Elements of 2nd Infantry Battalion (2IB) were conducting security operations in response to a report about the presence of CTG in the area when they encountered at least ten communist NPA terrorists (CNTs) led by alias Kiko/Pay, leader of Platoon 2, Larangan 1, Komiteng Probinsya 4 of Bicol Regional Party Committee (BRPC).

Firefight lasted for two minutes before the enemies scurried towards different directions.

Recovered from the encounter site are two generators, three engines for motorized banca, solar panel, food supplies and terrorist propaganda materials.

JTF Bicolandia under MGEN HENRY A ROBINSON JR PA once again recognized the support of the local populace in the anti-insurgency campaign of the government.

Prompt reports like these, he said, preempt any unlawful activities that the CTG is planning to carry out.

“Alam na ng lahat ang totoong motibo ng mga komunistang terorista kaya hindi na sila nagdadalawang isip na isumbong sa Local Government Authority at uniformed personnel ang kanilang presensya, panlilinlang, at pananakot. The Bicolanos are one with us in this fight against insurgency. Wala nang makukuhang suporta sa mga komunidad ang CTG because the people are yearning for genuine peace,”MGen Robinson said.

Thus, MGen Robinson once again called on the NPA to abandon the armed struggle because their space is now getting smaller;

there is a new and better life awaits for them outside the armed movement.
