HISTORY         

The 901st Infantry (Fight ‘Em) Brigade, 9th Infantry (Spear) Division, Philippine Army traces its humble beginnings when it was reactivated on 16 July 1986 as 2nd Infantry Brigade (Provisional) and first deployed with specific mission to provide security within the environs of the 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division stationed in Barangay Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal.

In 1988, with the expansion of the Second Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division AOR that extended towards Southern Tagalog Region including Mindoro Peninsula, the 2nd Infantry Brigade was upgraded to a fully operational brigade along with its new name Two Half Brigade (2/2) following the modified numerical designation prescribed by higher headquarters to all infantry brigades. During this year, Two Half Brigade was redeployed anew for ISO mission to confront the growing number of Local Communist Movement (LCM) operating in Southern Tagalog Region covering Laguna, Rizal, Quezon, including Mindoro Peninsula. It established its base in Barangay Lewin, Hydro Campsite, Lumban, Laguna. It has two (2) maneuver battalions namely; 59IB & 16IB.

In April 20, 1988, came another significant event in the history of Two Half Brigade when it was renamed 202 Infantry (Unifier) Brigade following another transformation in the numerical designations of Infantry Brigades.

        In 1992, four (4) years after confronting the LCM in Southern Tagalog Region, the 202 Infantry (Unifier) Brigade was redeployed in Bicol Region and established its camp in Barangay Villahermosa, Daraga, Albay and up to the present.  

       On August 15, 2002, another defining event that further nurtured the history of 202nd Infantry (Unifier) Brigade when it was renamed 901st Infantry (Fight ‘Em) Brigade. This defining moment came simultaneously with the activation of 9th Infantry (Spear) Division from 9th Infantry Brigade (Provisional) and absorbed 901st Brigade as one of its organic brigades along with 902 Brigade.

          The 901st Brigade proverbial moniker “Fight ‘Em” brings a very clear message that connotes lots of meanings. First, it is committed to fight all forces who dare to challenge Philippine Laws. Second, it is committed to fight all threat groups that espouse violence rather than peace. Third, it is committed to promote accord rather than discord. Fourth, it is committed to foster unity among all sectors towards a common desire to establish lasting peace and progress in its AOR. And last but not the least; it is committed to be “At your service, across the land, beyond limits.”
