CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur-Joint elements of 83rd Infantry Battalion (83IB) of 9th Infantry Division (9ID), Philippine Army and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office clashed with members of communist terrorist group (CTG) at 2:45 in the morning today, July 14.

 

Government troops were conducting combat operations at Sitio Lantad, Barangay La Medalla in Tinambac, Camarines Sur due to the reported presence of armed rebels when they encountered more or less 10 communist terrorists (CTs).

 

The fire fight lasted for five minutes before the enemies scurried to different directions. No one was harmed in the government side.

 

Two M16 rifles were recovered in the encounter site. 

 

Hot pursuit operation is still on-going.

 

LTC TOMMY A DELIVA INF (GSC) PA, Battalion Commander of 83IB emphasized that the encounter is a proof of a growing support of the residents in the government’s campaign to end the unlawful acts hurled by the members of CTG.

 

“Ang pagtulong nila para makarating sa atin ang impormasyon sa ginagawang pangingikil at paghahanap ng panibagong miyembro ng mga teroristang NPA sa kanilang barangay ang naging susi ng encounter na ito,” he added.

 

[This encounter is a result of the residents’ willingness to report the extortions and recruitment being made by the NPA terrorists in their barangay.]

 

COL ROMMEL K TELLO INF (GSC) PA, Brigade Commander of 902nd Infantry Brigade on the other hand said that it’s about time for the armed rebels to realize that their fight for flawed ideals and principles is useless and will only result in violence and danger to the civilians so as to their own lives. He also stressed that only the corrupt top officials of the armed movement benefit from their extortion activities. 

 

Meanwhile, Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB) under MGEN FERNANDO T TRINIDAD, AFP assured the public of a more intensified security measures being laid down in the entire Bicol region amidst the series of encounters that transpired since the month of June.

 

He added that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is always ready to fight the enemies of the state and secure its people. Nevertheless, he reiterated that the government is also ready to welcome with open arms the members of the armed movement who will abandon the armed struggle and help them establish better lives through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur-Another armed encounter between the government troops and communist terrorist group (CTG) transpired at 5:15 in the morning today, June 28. 

 

According to the report, joint elements of 83rd Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army and Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office were conducting combat operations in response to a report about the presence of armed rebels in Sitio Mauban, Barangay Mampirao, Caramoan, Camarines Sur when the clash between them and more or less 20 CTG members broke out. 

 

Two armed communists were killed in a firefight that lasted for one and a half hour while no casualty was recorded in the government side. 

 

Recovered from the place of incident were six (6) high powered firearms which includes four M16 rifles, one Galil rifle, one M79 grenade launcher, four anti-personnel mines and other subversive documents.

 

It was learned that said communist rebels were part of Larangan 1, Komiteng Probinsya 2 of the Bicol Regional Party Committee (BRPC), the same group which the government troops encountered in Barangay Lupi, Tinambac last January 30, killing six of their members. 

 

The Joint Task Force Bicolandia expressed its appreciation for the immediate report made by the residents in the said barangay thus preventing the communist terrorists from executing any unlawful acts.

 

Nonetheless, the Command once again encouraged the CTGs to abandon their armed struggle and instead of allowing themselves to be used in the hopeless armed movement, they better avail of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

 

E-CLIP gives former rebels the chance to start their lives anew using the financial and livelihood assistance provided by the government.

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur- At least one hundred motorcycle enthusiasts from the National Capital Region and Southern Luzon converged to join PMA’s “Hinirang” Class ’87 motorbike tour from Quezon City to Pili, Camarines Sur today June 8. 

 

Aiming to raise awareness on the government’s campaign to “End Local Communist Armed Conflict” or ELCAC, motorcycle riders from different motorbike clubs in Manila and Bicol spearheaded by the PNP’s Highway Patrol Group, joined the “Sama-Samang Lakbay with Hinirangs” sponsored by the PMA’s alumni.

 

The biker’s long trek along the South Expressway and through the Maharlika Highway in Bicol started around 4AM at Camp Crame in Quezon City. Stop over points were place along Malvar, Batangas, in the towns of Candelaria, Gumaca and Calauag in Quezon province, Sta. Elena in Camarines Norte and Sipocot in Camarines Sur, where bikers took short rest before proceeding to the next stop over.

 

Along the way, leaflets about the ELCAC were also distributed.

 

At around 4PM, the weary but cheerful riders started to enter the gate of Camp Elias Angeles in group which also served as the finish line and end point of the tour. Finally before the sun sat down, at 5PM all bikers are all inside the camp safe and sound. The 9th Infantry Division Commander, Major General Fernando Trinidad, warmly welcomed the participants with a sumptuous dinner through a “boodlefight” after short a simple closing ceremony at the camp’s General Lukban Grandstand. 

 

Committed to the goal of pushing the communist terrorist group to its natural death, theorganizers so as the Spear Division are positive that the campaign will be a great help not just in spreading information but also in encouraging the public to rally with the government in its consistent effort to end the armed struggle and work hand in hand towards peace and development.

 

In the entire Philippines, Bicol Region is one of the very first regions to create the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) where 9ID is an active member.

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur-The 9th Infantry Spear Division urged the Bicolanos not to forget the heroism of every Filipino whose lives were sacrificed in exchange of the nation’s freedom but encouraged everyone to remember even more that inside each and every Filipino’s heart resides a modern hero.

 

In his speech during the 121st Commemoration of the Philippine Independence in Pili, Camarines Sur where he served as the Guest of Honor, MGen. Fernando Trinidad, Commander of 9ID, emphasized that everyone is a hero.

 

“Sa panahon ngayon, hindi lang kaming mga sundalo ang maituturing na mga bayani ng bayan; katuwang namin ang bawat mamamayang Pilipino sa pangangalaga n gating kapayapaan. Ang pagkakaroon ng malasakit sa kapwa at asa ating bansa ay nangangahulugan ng iyong pagkabayani,” MGen. Trinidad added.

 

Military units in other parts of Bicol joined the simultaneous flag raising ceremony and civic-military conducted by the municipalities near their camps. Military static displays filled SM Naga City and in the Central Plaza Mall in Daet, Camarines Norte.

 

Various military wares were displayed, from the military’s 105MM Howitzer cannons, armored medium tanks, different military vehicles, and military search and rescue equipment.  Awed by the military equipment on display, mall-goers grabbed the opportunity to take a ‘selfie’ with military vehicles and other war-fighting equipments.

 

To show that men-in-uniform knows not only war fighting, soldier showcased their skills and talents in singing through a mini-concert staged inside SM City Naga that gathered a large crowd enthusiastic to hear soldiers buzz the day.

 

Along with the assurance that the 9ID will continue its relentless service to the Bicolanos, he also highlighted the call for unity and cooperation.

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur-Major General Fernando T. Trinidad, Commander of the 9th Infantry (Spear) Division led the groundbreaking of the new recreational area inside the military camp on Wednesday, June 5.

 

Hinirang Park, which is named after Philippine Military Academy “Hinirang” Class ’87 where Maj. Gen. Trinidad is a member of , is the brainchild of the Commander who is a nature lover.

 

The 400-square meters islet in the middle of Binasagan River will house a multi-purpose building which will serve as venue for gatherings, fellowships and other Command activities, as well as wide space for recreational and physical activities.

 

It was learned that General Trinidad noticed the area while visiting the on-going construction of the firing range nearby.

 

As a military officer who leads thousands of troops, biking and running becomes General Trinidad’s way of taking good care of his health hence, he also influence the Spear Troopers of doing the same.

 

He is positive that with the Hinirang Park, the division will be able to inspire more troopers to make physical fitness as one of their priorities as well as provide its visitors and other stakeholders a place where they can enjoy and relax.

 

The division’s Chaplain, Major Domingo Labrilla facilitated the blessing of the site at exactly 10:30 in the morning.

 

Invited guests were no less than the classmates of General Trinidad, MGen. Cirilito Sobejana, Commander of 6th Infantry Division (6ID); MGen. Ramiro Manuel Rey, Commander ,AFP Special Operations Command (SOCOM) PBGen. Arnel Escobal, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5) and BGen. Peter Suchianco, Commander of 1st Technical Administrative Service Brigade (TASB) of the Army Reserved Force.
