CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Cam. Sur--- Three (3) members of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) were captured in a firefight that transpired in Purok 7, Barangay Cabiguan, Pilar, Sorsogon, Wednesday, April 10.


According to the report, the combined elements of 31st Infantry (Charge) Battalion and Sorsogon-PNP were conducting security operation when they encountered the undetermined number of CTG members in the house of a certain Emmanuel Malto.


The exchange of fire lasted for almost five (5) minutes forcing the terrorists to withdraw towards the mountainous part of said place. The apprehended persons were identified as Carlito R De Guzman alyas Mario Torres/ Ka Jim, 63, married from 333 CM Recto, Sta Cruz, Manila and temporarily residing at Mabini Street, Nasugbu, Batangas; Joan V Cuesta alyas Betina Dela Cruz/ Janette Pardines /Ka Tina, 40, married, and a resident of San Vicente, Sta Maria, Bulacan; and Hugo F Fuentes alyas Ka Hugo, 70, married, and a resident of Rizal Extension, Mandaluyong City.


The authorities also recovered the following items from the possession of the said personalities: three (3) pieces of fragmentation grenade; one (1) Cal .45 Pistol SN 419162 inserted with one (1) magazine loaded with six (6) live ammos, one (1) extra magazine loaded with six (6) ammos; one (1) Cal .38 revolver with SN 505591 loaded with five (5) ammos; one (1) Air Gun; four (4) pieces ammos for 9mm; and falsified documents such as TIN ID Card, PhilHealth ID Card, Driver's License and Senior Citizen Card.


The arrested CTG members were brought to Sorsogon-PPO for investigation and filing of appropriate charges. There were no reported casualties on the government side while follow up operations were immediately conducted to apprehend the CTG's cohorts.


Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Fernando T Trinidad AFP, Commander JTF Bicolandia, gave assurance that fair treatment will be accorded to the arrested personalities and their rights will be protected. On the other hand, the Commander gave warning that legal actions will be charged against civilians who continuously support and harbor the CTGs.


He further stressed that harboring CTG members will not only endanger their lives and properties but also the whole community where they reside. Maj. Gen. Trinidad also added that the relentless operations being conducted by the government forces will continue in order to weaken and dismantle the CTG that threatens the stability and orderliness of the Bicol Region.



CAMP ELIAS, ANGELES, Pili, Cam. Sur — Two communist terrorists were killed in a firefight between the government forces and Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Barangay Buri, Mandaon, Masbate, Monday morning, April 8.

The said incident ensued when the combined elements of soldiers and police launched an operation after receiving reports regarding the presence of seven armed CTG in the said area.

The brief firefight, which lasted for about five minutes, led to the death of two CTG members and confiscation of an M16 assault rifle, one cal. 45 pistol and personal belongings. According to the report, the dead CTG members were identified as Rolando Ipil alyas Ka Jezel and a certain Ka Arnel.

No one was harmed on side of the government forces while the cadavers of CTG members were turned over to Mandaon Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Pursuit was immediately launched for the apprehension of the fleeing CTG members involved in the said incident.

Maj. Gen. Fernando T Trinidad, Commander of JTF Bicolandia, once again lauded the accomplishment of the troops saying that the government forces will continue its effort to hunt down the remaining members of the CTG who continuously engage in terroristic activities and other form of lawlessness.

“The timely information being relayed by the civilians made us successful in our combat activities. This is a clear manifestation that the CTG members are no longer welcome in the communities. They do not have mass base anymore and they already lost their traditional guerilla bases.” the Commander said.

He likewise said, “with the sustained operations being conducted by the government forces, the CTG members need to choose--- abandon the armed struggle and avail the program being offered by the government or face the full force of the law and suffer the same fate of their dead comrades”.



CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur--- The 9th Infantry (Spear) Division scores anew in the recent encounter with the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Barangay San Luis I, Guinyangan, Quezon around 4:50 in the afternoon, Wednesday, April 3.

According to the report, operating troops of 96th Infantry (Alab) Battalion were conducting combat operation in response to the information regarding the presence of terrorists belonging to Larangan 1, Komiteng Probinsya 1 in the said area when the firefight broke out.

The firefight lasted for about five minutes after which the terrorists scampered towards different directions dragging along their casualties. The government troops seized one M16 rifle with one magazine and live ammunition, two cellular phones and two backpacks containing personal belongings.

Meanwhile, no one was harmed on the government side while additional forces have been deployed to tracked down the fleeing CTG members.

In the statement of JTF Bicolandia, the command said that the on-going campaign against the CTG is already gaining grounds and yielding positive results. For the 1st quarter of this year, a total of 11 CTG members were neutralized and numerous high-powered firearms and war materials were recovered.

With the intensified combat and non-combat activities, the JTF Bicolandia is expecting the CTGs to lose their traditional bases and lairs thereby making them disarray and eventually collapse.

"We want to resolve this insurgency problem in a peaceful manner that’s why we are reaching out to the remaining members of the CTG to surrender and give up the violent armed struggle. For those who will continue to use arms and violence, we have no choice but to apply the full force of the law. We are mandated to safeguard the people and their properties from the abuses and threats of the terrorist group”, Maj. Gen. Fernando T. Trinidad AFP, Commander JTF Bicolandia, added.



CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines, Sur--- The Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) suffered another debacle in the recent encounter with the government troops in the boundary of Barangay Manga, and Barangay Barcelonita town of Sipocot, Camarines Sur, Friday morning, April 5.

The encounter ensued after the 9th Infantry (Sandigan) Battalion sent its operating troops after receiving a tipped off coming from the concerned citizens regarding the presence of 12 armed terrorists in the area. 

After 15 minutes firefight, the terrorists scampered towards different direction leaving behind one M14 rife, two M16 rifles, two anti-personnel mines, electric wires, blasting caps, two bandoliers with magazines and ammunition, four cellular phones, and two jungle packs containing personal belongings. Heavy bloodstains were also seen along their route of withdrawal indicating the fleeing terrorists have scores of wounded with them while no one was harmed on the side of the government troops.

With the recent incident, the AFP and PNP units nearby have been alerted and tasked to conduct follow up operations to prevent the CTG from launching counter attacks against their vulnerable targets. 

According to the JTF Bicolandia, the CTG is now in disarray after incurring heavy losses in the series of encounters transpired within the AOR. Aside from the tactical losses, the command also said that the terrorist group is also suffering from shortage of manpower and support after surge of surrenders from its regular members and supporters pile up across the region leaving majority of its members demoralized.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Fernando T Trinidad AFP, Commander JTF Bicolandia congratulated the troops for another display of gallantry and heroism so that the Bicolanos will be safe from the harm and threat of the CTG.  Likewise, he also recognized the support being extended by the civilians which he said a clear manifestation that the CTGs are now losing their mass bases and lairs. 

Nonetheless, the Commander is still hopeful that the remaining members of the CTG will heed to the call and avail the programs being offered by the government.  “It is very timely that our government created a Task Force dedicated to end insurgency problem because this will fast track the delivery of services that will give solution to the issues being used and exploited by the CTG. Let us be united for peace and development- that is what our country needs”, he added.



CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur-- Peace-loving Bicolanos condemned the 50th anniversary of the NPA Terrorists through the Peace Rallies held in the different parts of the region, Friday morning, March 29.

Marches and assemblies were conducted in following places: Bantayog Park in Daet, Camarines Norte; Capitol Compound in Sorsogon City; and Masbate Freedom Park in Masbate City.

The peace rallies were launched in partnership with the different LGUs, Government Agencies, former rebels and their families, students, and civilian populace. The activities aimed denounce the 50 years of abuses and atrocities committed by the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG). The populace wanted to convey the message of peace to the remaining members and supporters of the CTG hoping for them to realize the futility of the armed struggle and the destruction it brings to the Filipino nation.

According to the statement of JTF Bicolandia under Maj. Gen. Fernando T. Trinidad AFP, the people’s actions only manifested their longing for a peaceful life in their communities free from the CTG threats and abuses. The JTF Commander further stressed that the NPA terrorists have nothing to celebrate and no achievement to be proud of, the 50-years armed struggle is an utter failure which only resulted to the loss of lives and destruction not only to properties but most specially the dreams and ideals of progressive Filipinos.

In addition, Maj. Gen. Trinidad said that the atrocities committed by the CTG in their five decades of existence only illustrated their nature as a terror group that works to destabilize the democratic government, obstruct development, destroy properties and bring inconvenience to the Bicolanos.

On the other hand, the Commander assured that lines of communication are open for those who want to abandon the armed movement and embrace the life of peace.

"It is not yet late for them to return to the path of peace and adhere to the rule of law. Our government has laid programs for CTG members who wish to surrender. Through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program or ECLIP they will have a chance to start anew and be productive citizens", he added.
