CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur— Another encounter between the government troops and CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNT) transpired in Barangay Gangao, Baleno, Masbate on Saturday 9:40, March 9.

Based on the report, the combined elements of 2nd Infantry (Second to None) Battalion and 1st Masbate Mobile Force Company were conducting combat operation in response to reports they received when they encountered undetermined number of armed CNTs in the locality.

The firefight lasted for about two hours before the terrorists fled towards northeast direction of the encounter site. The said incident resulted to the death of one Terrorist and led to the confiscation of one M16 rifle, one Molotov, three rifle grenades, two cartridges of M203 ammunition and other war materials.

Meanwhile, one soldier was injured from the clash while pursuit operation is in progress against the terrorist.

Based on the statement of the Joint Task Force Bicolandia, the encounter was a result of the intensified combat operation to deny the CNT group from launching terroristic activities that would impede development especially in the geographically isolated and disadvantage areas in the region.

According to Maj. Gen. Fernando T Trinidad AFP, Commander of JTF Bicolandia, the series of successful operations were results of positive information provided by concerned citizens which clearly manifested that they are tired and sick of the CNT’s atrocities. He further reiterated that the command will continue to be relentless in its efforts to hunt down the remaining members of the terrorist group who are using deception and violence in pursuing their communist agenda.

“As we step-up our combat and non-combat activities to attain peace, we are enjoining everyone to support us by actively partaking in all peace efforts so that the lingering problems of insurgency will be resolved” he added.

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES. Pili, Camarines Sur- The 9th Infantry (Spear) Division’s female officers, enlisted personnel and civilian employees participated in the foot parade dubbed as “Juana Walk” held in the city streets of Naga, Friday morning, March 8.

 

The “Juana Walk” is conducted in connection with the celebration of National Women’s Day 2019 with the theme “We Make Change Work for Women”.

 

Aside from the female soldiers and civilian employees, the activity was attended by the officers and members of MOVE, Naga City Family Planning Council, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Naga City Police Office, Naga College Foundation and University of Nueva Caceres.To add color to the celebration, a Zumba Dance and simple culmination program were held at Plaza Quezon.

 

The series of activities aimed to commemorate the inspiring roles of women globally in their fight to carve the path towards progress, to secure every woman’s right and to call for gender parity. As a part of National Women’s Day celebration the activity hopes to project the power of women to change and reshape the future.

 

Major Maria Nilda L Romero (NC), the most senior female officer of 9ID, shared her insights to other participants by recognizing the remarkable accomplishments of female soldiers currently deployed in combat and non-combat duties. In her message, she stressed that uniformed women also partake a great share in our quest for peace and societal development.

 

In line with National Women’s Month celebration, the 9th Infantry (Spear) Division vows to support, advocate and promote gender equality and empowerment to give women the stature they deserve both in organization and our society. It is also in this perspective that the Spear Division advocates the campaign for women’s rights and protection in Bicol region.

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur - Another member of the CPP-NPA Terrorist (CNT) Group voluntarily surrendered to the authorities in Barangay Igang, Masbate City around 3:00pm, Wednesday, February 27.

The said CNT member was identified as alyas Jo of Platon 2, Larangan 1, Komiteng Probinsya 4 of the Bicol Regional Party Committee (BRPC).

In his return to the folds of the law, the former rebel (FR) also surrendered his cal. 45 pistol and homemade shot gun with magazine. The said firearms were turned-over to Masbate Police Provincial Office for proper disposition.

Maj. Gen. Fernando T. Trinidad AFP, Commander of Joint Task Force Bicolandia said that the surge of surrenderees in Masbate was a clear indication that many of CNT members already realized the futility of the armed struggle.

Among the reasons being cited by those FRs who returned to the path of peace are the following: corruption within the communist group, inconsistencies in their propaganda, failure to fulfill the "SUPAMIL" or suportang pamilya, and the relentless operations being conducted by the soldiers in the areas identified as their Guerilla Bases.

Maj. Gen. Trinidad assured that the said FR will receive appropriate assistance through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) to include the renumeration of the surrendered firearms. He also emphasized that the lines of communication for those CNT members who want to surrender and take the opportunity to abandon the armed struggle are open.

He further encouraged the CNT members to embrace the life of peace and prosperity with their respective family rather than continue the violent struggle with the communist terrorists.

It can be recalled that two rebels also voluntarily surrendered to the 2nd Infantry (Second to None) Battalion at Barangay Bacolod, Milagros, Masbate last January 26.

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur – The 9th Infantry (Spear) Division joins the Bicolanos in the observance of Women’s Month Celebration through the simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony here, Monday, March 4.

This month-long event aims to recognize women’s contribution in all spheres of society with the theme “We Make Change Work for Women”. This year’s celebration officially kicked-off on the first day of March as proclaimed in the House of Representative Resolution No. 20 in 1988 designating March as “Women’s Role in History Month”.

The Magna Carta for Women (RA 9710) or the Comprehensive Women’s Human Rights further states that the law seeks to eliminate discrimination against women by recognizing, protecting, fulfilling and promoting the rights of Filipino women, especially those in marginalized sector.

In line with the occasion, Maj. Gen. Fernando T Trinidad AFP, Commander 9ID, read the message of the Commanding General Philippine Army (CGPA). The CGPA conveyed his sincere recognition not only to the meaningful roles of the female soldiers in the organization but also to the women at home and in the labor force who are at the forefront of every progressive social change.

It is also in this perspective that the Spear Division salutes and recognizes the strong and gallant female Spear Troopers, as well as the dedicated and hardworking female civilian employees of the command.

Along with this meaningful observance, the entire 9ID is enjoining all of the members of our society to recognize all the Bicolanas who are actively partaking and giving their fair share for the attainment of peace and development in Bicol region and in the entire nation as a whole.

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur- One unidentified member of CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNT) was killed in an encounter transpired at the vicinity of Zone 1, Barangay Tuaca, Basud, Camarines Norte, Sunday morning, March 3.  

Based from the report, the elements of 1st Cam. Norte Provincial Mobile Forces Company were conducting security operation in the said area in response to the information given by the civilians when they encountered 15 armed CNTs believed to be members of KSPN 1, Larangan 2, Komiteng Probinsya 1 of Bicol Regional Party Committee.

The said firefight lasted for almost five minutes and the terrorists immediately fled towards different directions living their dead comrade behind. The government troops also recovered one cal. 45 pistol, one cal. 30 carbine rifle, and one hand grenade in the encounter site. There was no reported casualty on the government side while pursuit operation is still on going.

In the official statement of Joint Task Force Bicolandia under Maj. Gen. Fernando T. Trinidad AFP, the command lauded the cooperation of the civilian populace in the area and the prompt response of the police force that yielded positive result contributory to the ongoing anti-insurgency campaign in the Bicol Region. Maj. Gen. Trinidad further reminded the public to be extra vigilant and report to the authorities the presence of the communist terrorists in their communities so that this group will be prevented from doing atrocities and victimizing innocent civilians.

Meanwhile, the JTF Bicolandia also expressed its deepest sympathy to the family of the dead CNT member citing that he was also a victim of the communist’s deception to join them in their senseless armed struggle. Along this line, the command once again called upon the remaining members of the CNT to lay dow their arms and return to the folds of the law so that tragic loss of lives will be avoided.

The command also gave assurance for those who will surrender that appropriate assistance will be given under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program or E-CLIP.
