Philippine Army in Bicol Region Continue in Giving Assistance to the Victims of Tropical Storm Glenda

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur – Two weeks after the Tropical Storm Glenda, the 9th Infantry Division, Philippine Army continue to extend humanitarian assistance to the victims in the affected areas of Bicol region.


In the province of Camarines Sur, more than 2,000 families in the towns of Bato and Buhi, received relief goods distributed together with the Local Government Units (LGUs), Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and other volunteers.


Spear Troopers also extend assistance to the Office of the Civil Defense Bicol and Regional/Provincial/Municipal Risk Reduction and Management Council in conducting clean-up drives and clearing operations in different devastated areas left by Typhoon Glenda.


Before the wrought of the said storm, more than 600 rescuers from Division Headquarters, three (3) Infantry Brigades, and five (5) Infantry Battalions are on alert and have been busy in preparing for the preemptive evacuations of victims of landslides and flash floods.


The readiness of the rescuers who undergone series of Disaster Preparedness Training like Water Search and Rescue Operations is an immense and helpful factor in conducting different assistance, particularly in the provinces of Albay, Sorsogon and Camarines Sur that were greatly affected by the Tropical Storm Glenda.
