Representative Fuentebella Graces Graduation and Entrustment of Firearms to 2 Batches of New Soldiers of 9ID

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur - Two Batches of the Candidate Soldiers Courses 367 and 368 were entrusted with their individual firearms which was formally graced by Congressman Felix William “Wimpy” Fuentebella of 4th District of Camarines Sur as the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the Graduation Ceremony today, Dec 16 at Headquarters, 9th Infantry (Spear) Division, Camp Elias Angeles, Pili, Camarines Sur.

 

285 male candidate soldiers finally completed the three months Candidate Soldier Course and three-months Jungle Warfare Mountain Operation Course from the original 300 qualified applicants who took oath last June this year. Amongst the 300 are eight female candidates still undergoing training at Camp O’donell, Capas, Tarlac. 81% of the new soldiers are Bicolanos and mostly are college undergraduates. They will be assigned to the different Infantry units all over Bicol Region.

 

Congressman Fuentebella welcomed the new Privates and reminded of their responsibility as public servants. He stressed out the character that every soldier must encompass; loyalty to our flag, responsibility to protect each other, each citizen, and be most effective in protecting our freedom and democracy.

 

On the ceremonial entrustment of firearms, each firearm entrusted to them is a tool in protecting the rights of the Filipinos. The new soldiers are reminded that the firearms issued to them are intended to protect the people and their rights but not for former’s adventurism.

 

Major General Yerson E Depayso, Commander, 9ID said that the two batches of new soldiers will beef up the strength of 9ID Spear Warriors as peace advocates in the region. MGen Depayso encourages the new privates to do their tasks religiously, faithfully and with pride and dignity as members of the Philippine Army. He said that it is the start of their journey as members and part of the government. In return, they must be honest and dedicated services by providing the Filipino people an atmosphere of peace and allowing them freedom of choice to improve their quality of life. They are also reminded that they are not only serving the people and Country, but also God Almighty.
