Former Rebels in Albay Receive Livelihood Assistance under CLIP

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES Pili, Camarines Sur- Nine former rebels (FRs) in Albay who laid down their arms and returned back to the folds of the law received immediate cash and livelihood assistance thru Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP) during the awarding ceremony on  November 16, 2015 held at Headquarters 901st  Infantry (Fight ‘Em) Brigade in Brgy Villahermosa, Daraga, Albay.

The FRs conferred their trust back to the government thru the efforts of 2nd Infantry (Second to None) Battalion who recommended them to undergo and qualify for  the evaluation conducted by the CLIP Committee member agencies headed by Governor Joey Sarte Salceda as the Chairman of CLIP Committee in Albay Province prior the awarding.

Each individual received fifteen thousand pesos (P15,000.00) as immediate cash assistance and fifty thousand pesos (P50,000.00) as livelihood assistance. A total of five hundred eighty five thousand pesos (P585,000.00) was awarded from the Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP).

The awarding ceremony was attended by head of CLIP member agencies:  Hon Harold O Imperial, Vice Governor, Province of Albay as representative of Governor Salceda; Dir. Olivio D Ramirez DILG, PD – Albay; Dir. Yolanda P. Guanzon   PSWDO – PD Albay;      PSSupt. Marlo S Meneses PNP, PD-Albay; Dr Cedric Daep, APSEMO Chief-PGA and Rev Fr Rex Arjona Social Action Center-Diocese of Caceres; Col Claudio L Yucot PA, Commander, 901st Infantry Brigade, Ltc Perfecto P Peñaredondo PA, CO, 2IB, PA with BGen Ignacio A Obligacion AFP, the Assistant Division Commander, 9ID, PA as guest of honor and speaker. 

“The CLIP offers a great opportunity for our long lost brothers to start a new life with a positive future ahead for their families. It is also a chance for them to pursue the right path and be part of building a better community to attain the desired lasting peace in the Province of Albay. So, we encourage and invite the remaining NPA members to lay down their arms grab the opportunity offered by the government and live peacefully in the community together with their families”. Col Yucot said.

According to BGen Obligacion, “We in the 9th Infantry Division are very glad to welcome and assist rebels who have finally decided to lay down their arms and seek the assistance of the government. We know that they had difficult life while in the mountains as they were exploited to fight against the government. They should realize the futility of their struggle and it is about time for them give up their arms, embrace the government and start living a normal life together with their families.”
