Skeletal Remains Found in Sorsogon, Alleged Victim of NPA Execution

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES Pili, Camarines Sur- Combined elements of 31IB, Matnog MPS and Sorsogon Police Provincial Office-SOCO exhumed the remains of an alleged victim of NPA execution at vicinity of Sitio Kapukutan, Brgy Lajong, Matnog, Sorsogon last December 09, 2015 1:00 in the afternoon.

Acting on the information of a concerned citizen, elements from 31IB and 22IB (CAFGU), located the gravesite of the reported victim. Upon confirmation, Lt Col Beerjenson N. Aquino, Commanding Officer of 31st Infantry Battalion immediately coordinated with the Matnog MPS, Sorsogon PPO SOCO and Media Representative for the exhumation of the remains.

According to 2Lt Emmuel John P. Perez, 31IB CMO Officer, the skeletal remains was handcuffed and blindfolded which is an indication that the victim was brutally executed.

The remains belong to Jimmy Boris, 34 years old and a resident of Brgy Caburihan, Sta. Magdalena, Sorsogon and was positively identified by his sister Amy Boris. Based on her account, he was identified through the color blue clothing that were recovered along with the remains which also include a pair of white slippers and a rope measuring at least 3.35 meters.

According to Amy Boris, her brother was missing since January 2011. She thanked the 31IB for the recovery of the remains of her brother. The remains were turned-over to PNP SOCO-Sorsogon for proper documentation and disposition.

Lt Col Aquino condemned this kind of inhumane act commonly perpetuated by the members of New People’s Army which clearly violates human rights.

It can be recalled that two (2) skeletal remains were also exhumed by elements of 49IB last December 4 in a remote barangay in Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte.
