9ID Proudly Joins in Celebrating AFP’s 80th Founding Anniversary



CAMP ELIAS ANGELES Pili, Camarines Sur-      The 9th Infantry (Spear) Division of Philippine Army under BGen Ferdinand F. Quidilla, proudly joins the Armed Forces Philippines in celebrating its 80th Founding Anniversary on December 21, 2015 with a theme: “At 80: Advancing, Transforming to Protect the People and Secure the State”.

In its 80 years of existence, the AFP is steadfast to its commitment in protecting the people and securing the state. Gen Hernando Iriberri is the 46th AFP Chief-of-Staff.

As one of the AFP’s three (3) branches of service, the Philippine Army has initiated a series of activities on the following dates and venues:  Photo and Static/Kinetic Display on December 12-13, 2015 at CCP Sunken Parking Space, Pasay City and PICC Complex and at SM Clark, Pampanga on December 20-22, 2015; Honor for Heroes and Interaction with Assumption College students on December 07, 2015 at Libingan ng mga Bayani, Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City; Concert at the Harbour Square on  December 12-13, 2015 at Harbour Square, CCP Complex and Medical Mission with B.O.S.S on December 15-17, 2015 at Army General Hospital, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Alongside with the AFP’s Transformation Roadmap is the AFP Modernization Program that will strengthen its capability in performing its mandated tasks. Recently, the AFP acquired two (2) of twelve FA-50 Fighter Jets, six (6) Agusta-Westland AW-109 Attack Helicopters, one of two (2) Hamilton-Class Frigates and one hundred seventeen (117) M113A2 Armed Personnel Carriers (APCs) to bolster its capability.

On the other hand, the 9ID as one of the best Infantry Divisions of Philippine Army will continue to pursue its transformation program by achieving the Army Governance Pathway ”Proficient-status” by 2016.
