9ID Welcomes Additional Troops



CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur – The 9th Infantry Division received the newly assigned personnel through a simple Reception Ceremony held at Headquarters, Tactical Operation Group 5, Legaspi City, Sunday, May 27.

On board Philippine Airforce C130 plane, the 149 privates coming from the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army arrived in Legaspi City and was warmly welcomed by selected officers and NCOs headed by Brig. Gen. Greg T. Almerol, Commander of 903rd Infantry Brigade.

The ceremony was graced by Hon. Noel Rosal, Mayor of Legaspi City and the Chairman of Regional Peace and Order Council, ably represented by Mr. Carlos A. Ante. In his message, he said that the City of Legaspi and the entire Bicol Region are grateful that the Philippine Army continuously provide support not only for security and disaster response but also for development. He said that these endeavors greatly contributed in the growth and development of the region.

Nonetheless, he gave assurance that they will continue to give their utmost cooperation and actively partake in the activities and programs that will be undertaken by the Army in Bicol.

With this, the Spear Division under Maj. Gen. Jesus Manangquil Jr said that the additional troops from Central Luzon will be permanently assigned in various units of the command to augment its efforts of maintaining peace and security in the region. In addition, the command said that these personnel will beef up units in the front lines in the conduct of combat operation, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, community support program, and other activities that are geared towards having a peaceful and progressive Bicolandia.

Furthermore, the newly assigned privates will surely contribute in accomplishing the mission of 9ID as it intensifies its campaign to eliminate the enemies of the state particularly, CPP-NPA terrorists (CNTs) who continue to foster threats against vulnerable people and communities.

It can be recalled that last April, a total of 161 personnel coming from 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division were also received by 9ID for the same purpose.
