Encounter Transpired in Camarines



CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur—Another encounter between the government troops and CPP-NPA Terrorists transpired in Barangay Salvacion, Ragay, Camarines Sur, Wednesday, August 8.

The said clash ensued when combined elements of Bravo Company, 9th Infantry Battalion and Delta Coy, 22IB were sent to the said place to verify the alleged presence of the terrorist group after receiving reports from local residents.

The said incident lasted for almost 10 minutes and resulted to the confiscation of one M16 rifle. There was no reported casualty on the government side while pursuit operation is still on going as to this press time.

In a separate report, a newly abandoned encampment was uncovered by the operating troops of Charlie Company, 2nd Infantry Battalion in Barangay Altavista, San Fernando, Masbate at around 8:30 in the morning on the same day. The troops were able to recover three rolls of wire, one Improvised Explosive Device, one laptop with charger, one ICOM radio with charger and headset, nine cellphones, one binocular, two solar panel, ammunitions for M16 and M60, one box of double AA battery, personal belongings, and assorted food stuff.

Maj. Gen. Jesus A Manangquil Jr. lauded the cooperation of the local residents in giving real-time information that served as key for the successful operation conducted. He also added that JTF Bicolandia will continue to conduct intelligence driven operations to go after the CNTs who continuously threaten and victimize their vulnerable targets in the localities.

Further, the Commander once again called upon the remaining CNT members to lay down their arms and abandon the armed struggle so that peace and development in the region will be attained. He stressed that the use of violence to effect change is not the best solution to address societal issues and concerns. Further, he encouraged the NPAs to avail the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) being offered by our government so that they can join in developmental initiatives and make difference in our society.
