9ID Commemorates of Women’s Month

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur – The 9th Infantry (Spear) Division joins the Bicolanos in the observance of Women’s Month Celebration through the simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony here, Monday, March 4.

This month-long event aims to recognize women’s contribution in all spheres of society with the theme “We Make Change Work for Women”. This year’s celebration officially kicked-off on the first day of March as proclaimed in the House of Representative Resolution No. 20 in 1988 designating March as “Women’s Role in History Month”.

The Magna Carta for Women (RA 9710) or the Comprehensive Women’s Human Rights further states that the law seeks to eliminate discrimination against women by recognizing, protecting, fulfilling and promoting the rights of Filipino women, especially those in marginalized sector.

In line with the occasion, Maj. Gen. Fernando T Trinidad AFP, Commander 9ID, read the message of the Commanding General Philippine Army (CGPA). The CGPA conveyed his sincere recognition not only to the meaningful roles of the female soldiers in the organization but also to the women at home and in the labor force who are at the forefront of every progressive social change.

It is also in this perspective that the Spear Division salutes and recognizes the strong and gallant female Spear Troopers, as well as the dedicated and hardworking female civilian employees of the command.

Along with this meaningful observance, the entire 9ID is enjoining all of the members of our society to recognize all the Bicolanas who are actively partaking and giving their fair share for the attainment of peace and development in Bicol region and in the entire nation as a whole.
