CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur-Another armed encounter between the government troops and communist terrorist group (CTG) transpired at 5:15 in the morning today, June 28.

According to the report, joint elements of 83rd Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army and Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office were conducting combat operations in response to a report about the presence of armed rebels in Sitio Mauban, Barangay Mampirao, Caramoan, Camarines Sur when the clash between them and more or less 20 CTG members broke out.

Two armed communists were killed in a firefight that lasted for one and a half hour while no casualty was recorded in the government side.

Recovered from the place of incident were six (6) high powered firearms which includes four M16 rifles, one Galil rifle, one M79 grenade launcher, four anti-personnel mines and other subversive documents.

It was learned that said communist rebels were part of Larangan 1, Komiteng Probinsya 2 of the Bicol Regional Party Committee (BRPC), the same group which the government troops encountered in Barangay Lupi, Tinambac last January 30, killing six of their members.

The Joint Task Force Bicolandia expressed its appreciation for the immediate report made by the residents in the said barangay thus preventing the communist terrorists from executing any unlawful acts.

Nonetheless, the Command once again encouraged the CTGs to abandon their armed struggle and instead of allowing themselves to be used in the hopeless armed movement, they better avail of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

E-CLIP gives former rebels the chance to start their lives anew using the financial and livelihood assistance provided by the government.
